Our Story: From a Small Trailer to 10,000 Square Feet
Loxahatchee Rodents is a division of Loxahatchee Herp Hatchery, founded in 2001 by brothers Bill and Jim Galloway. What started in a modest 10 x 40-foot trailer to feed our own reptile collection has grown through decades of research, hard work, and trial and error.

Our current 10,000 sq. ft. facility in Loxahatchee, FL.
Today, our operations occupy three state-of-the-art buildings totaling over 10,000 square feet. Our colony has expanded so significantly that we now process over 1,000 pounds of rodent food daily, allowing us to source supplies by the truckload to ensure consistency and quality.
Our Expertise
We don't just sell feeders; we are lifelong experts in animal husbandry and environmental science:
Bill Galloway
Served as an Assistant Curator at the Palm Beach Zoo before dedicating himself full-time to our hatchery in 2006. His professional background in zoological care ensures our breeding standards meet the highest benchmarks for health and hygiene.
Jim Galloway
Currently serves as a Senior Environmental Scientist for the South Florida Water Management District, focusing on Everglades restoration. His scientific approach brings a rigorous, data-driven methodology to our rodent production and safety protocols.
Why We Are Different
As avid outdoorsmen and dedicated reptile keepers, we understand the nuances of prey sizing and nutritional quality because we use these products for our own private collections. Whether it's trekking through Costa Rican rainforests or field herping in Florida, our deep connection to nature drives our commitment to "Snake Safety First".
- Experience-Backed: Over 25 years of hands-on breeding experience since our founding in 2001.
- Scientific Integrity: Every size chart and feeding schedule is based on real-world weight metrics and research-backed data.
- Professional Standards: We never cut corners in animal care, prioritizing frozen-thawed feeding as the gold standard for pet safety.
