Loxahatchee Rodents is a
division of the Loxahatchee Herp Hatchery, which was started in
2001 by two brothers Bill and Jim Galloway.
When we first started breeding mice and rats, our rodent colony
was housed in a 10 X 40 foot trailer and production was used to
feed our own reptiles. We focused a great deal of our attention
and efforts on rodent production and it showed in our success
early on. We started selling our surplus to local pet stores and
friends.
Through years of research, trial and error, and hard work,
our rodent colony has grown to occupy three separate state of
the art buildings totaling over 10,000 square feet!
Today, we have so many rodents that we are able to buy supplies
and food by the truckload (our rodents currently eat around 1000
pounds of food a day). We strive to produce the very best feeder
rodents available and never cut
corners when it comes to animal care. Breeding and selling
feeder rodents is now the main focus of our business.
Jim is currently a senior environmental
scientist for the South Florida Water Management District
working on everglades restoration.
Bill left his job as an assistant curator at
the Palm Beach Zoo to work full time with our business in 2006.
Both Bill and Jim are avid outdoorsmen, sharing a keen interest
in nature and wilderness. Canoeing in the Canadian wilderness,
trekking through rainforests in Costa Rica, scuba diving and
snorkeling off Florida’s coast, field herping, nature
photography, and reptile keeping are among their many interests.
We would like to thank you for visiting our site and we hope you
